Job Purpose
To independently deliver servicing, maintenance and repair of commercial catering equipment across customer sites, ensuring safety, compliance and high standards of service delivery. The role requires diagnosing faults, completing repairs and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment including gas and electrical appliances.

Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service and maintain commercial catering equipment including gas and electrical appliances, kitchen plant and associated systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out reactive repairs, maintenance and breakdown response on commercial catering equipment.
- Attend reactive, diagnostic and emergency repair calls, including participation in the out-of-hours callout rota where required.
- Liaise with colleagues, suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical information, parts availability, pricing and lead times.
- Carry out installation and site works associated with the installation or replacement of commercial catering appliances and equipment.
- Provide guidance to site teams and clients on the safe operation and management of catering equipment and advise where repair or replacement of assets may be required.
- Provide accurate information to support the preparation of quotations including equipment, materials, parts and labour requirements.
- Complete accurate and timely job documentation including service reports, compliance records and asset information.
- Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues and internal teams to ensure effective delivery of work and customer satisfaction.
- Work independently across customer sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Comply with all regulatory requirements, company policies and health and safety procedures.

Skills
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across commercial catering equipment and associated systems.
- Ability to service, repair and maintain a wide range of commercial kitchen appliances including gas and electrically powered equipment.
- Good understanding of commercial catering equipment operation, safety controls and system components.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications.
- Strong problem-solving capability and ability to work independently on customer sites.
- Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to manage multiple service visits and priorities.
- Ability to maintain accurate service records and documentation using company systems.

Experience
- Experience servicing and repairing commercial catering equipment within hospitality, retail, healthcare, education or other commercial kitchen environments.
- Experience diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on gas and electrically powered commercial kitchen appliances.
- Experience working independently across customer sites delivering planned maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Experience communicating directly with clients and providing technical advice on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Experience working with equipment manufacturers, parts suppliers and technical support teams to resolve equipment issues.
- Experience managing workload across multiple service visits while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Catering Equipment Engineering, Gas Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar).
- Commercial catering gas certification where applicable (e.g. COMCAT modules such as COMCAT 1, 3 or 5).
- Electrical competence in servicing commercial catering appliances.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Manufacturer training or specialist equipment certifications (e.g. Rational, Hobart, Falcon, Winterhalter) desirable.
