The Council for the Registration of Gas Installers is the national governing body for gas safety in the UK, ensuring that gas works are carried out in accordance with the current gas safety requirements and legislation.  It is a legal requirement for business or individuals working on gas fittings and appliances to be CORGI registered and accredited, meeting the Health and Safety Executive's criteria.

NICEIC

The National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting is the industry's independant, voluntary regulatory body covering the UK.  The sole purpose of the NICEIC is to protect consumers from unsound and unsafe electrical work, assessing it's roll of approved contractors every year to ensure that their work meets the national safety standard

HVCA

The Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association works towards an industry standard for firms active in the design, installation, commisioning and maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration products and equipment

CHAS

The Contractor Health and Safety assessment scheme was put together over the years by local authorities and the Health and Safety Executive.  The scheme is available for use by any public and private sector organisations to use when shortlisting contractors, suppliers and consultants who apply to work for them.  It provides information about the health and safety part of their application and is used to show that companies meet acceptable standards of health and safety compliance
